IconSettings - Jailbreak-Free SBSettings alternative!

Post by jc »

Hi all,

Also wanted to be able to turn on/off wifi or bluetooth with one single touch of a button?

People using jailbroken phones must have heard of SBSettings which does the job.
With iOS 5 this is not possible anymore (no untethered jailbreak for the moment).

IconSettings does the job too. No need to enter menus and look for the switch.

Navigate to the following url (using your iDevice), scroll down and touch the toggle you want to install on your homescreen:
http://iphoneza.co.za/IconSettings/

They are installed as profiles which start a specific link via the Safari browser.
On the screenshot below you can see that I regrouped 4 Buttons (Network (Edge/3G), Airplane mode, Bluetooth & WiFi)
in one category which I put on the first page of the Homescreen.

Hi.

Works great!

Is this authorized by Apple? Looks like a tweak especially because you need to enter (for some reason?) the passcode of the iPhone.

Besides this, did you notice that the App starts a link within Safari before showing the actual Settings page?

Do the Apps survive a firmware update?

Thanks!

Hello,

It is not a tweak (you do not need a jailbreak). Let's call it: workaround :)
Apple cannot forbid anything you do with your personal device.
Even jailbreak is legal even if they try with all means to make the devices unjailbreakable.

This works indeed via Safari links/shortcuts.
That's why a safari page is opened for a brief period of time starts the link and closes again.

It will survive a firmware upgrade as long as these shortcuts via the safari will stay implemented.
