Boot probs

Post by elzo »

Hia all;
I changed a PSU lat week, and did some modifications on the Case, which might have damaged one or some components due to vibrations.
Anyway, I noticed this as soon as I start the Computer, since I get the Bootlogo (from the Mainboard), some checks of the connected harddisks etc. Then when you normally would get the Windows bootlogo; it hangs.
Same thing when I boot from the WinXP install CD. After the message "Setup is inspecting your computer hardware configuration", nothing happens!
What did I kill?

Did you already try when Os is starting to push F8 Key and start in Safe Mode.

Yes, but in safe mode it loads the drivers; you see the whole list.
And then it stops. Screen doesn't change!
The same can be with the normal windows start; that you see the flag, and then it stays like that!

OK, just changed the Motherboard and reinstalled Windows.
That solved the problem!

Sorry Elzo, but I missed this thread.

I would have tried to ...

1. boot from floppy
2. boot from CD/DVD
3. change HD
4. check all connections
5. check for diagnostic tools on the Internet
...

If you didn't through the mainbaord yet, these might still be options to try.
