Config difference between Analog-DSL and ISDN-DSL

Post by elzo »

Who could help me out!
I myself have a Zyxel 660HW 67 router, and since I prefer standardisation I got the same for my in the meantime well knwn Mother-in-Law - who has an Analog DSL line.
Now the thing works at my place, but not at hers! So there must be a little trick somewhere.
It seemed the version 67 is meant for ISDN and firmware 61 for Analog.
Uploaded the 61 firmware, inserted all info; no joy! And since I'm with Cegecom and they only deliver fix&fertig Thomson Speedtouch routers, I can forget about them. The only thing they could confirm is that the VPI/VCI is 8/35 for both ISDN and Analog.
Would anyone have **any** idea? Here a screenshot of the Telnet config screen.

-> While typing, I thought Visual Online might know!
Let's see where the problem is...

Did I just find the info in the manual?
-Version 67 is for T-ISDN, 63 for ISDN and 61 for Analog.
So just changing fimware is not enough?[/quote]

hey elzo

at first view your config seems ok. i was wondering if the well known mother-in-law gets a green line synch line (indication should be present on the router i suppose) ? This is sometimes an issue an then you have to change the phone line cable from crossed to non-crossed or vice versa.

Which error status msg do you get ?

cheers

That light -on the Zyxel marked with DSL/PPP- stays blank. Cables I changed once.
I just get myself a simple switch which I'll then hang behind the modem that was there and put this one on ebay.
Its not worth the trouble.

Anyway, could it be the different frequency spectra the systems (Analog versus ISDN) in use? Since the splitters for the different systems differ already.
I got it before with routers coming from Germany in which they are being sold there as the only possibility, since they mostly have the combo ISDN-DSL. I asked a seller once; he answered: Analog or ISDN? Its for DSL, no?
So there is a difference. So you guys know for next time..

indeed normally you have isdn and analog versions for routers.
googled for you router but haven't found anything indicating it could do both after fimware change
